How to explore and assert your style
Mis à jour : 22 oct 2019
In this day and age of posting selfies, one can truly get intimidated by the continuous stream of the perfect image and style of others.
Here I would say, 'Stop!'
Stop being so judgemental about your image and take a look in the mirror in the most neutral way. When we see ourselves in the mirror we are often tuned to look only at 'our imperfections.'
Focus or take into account those other features in your image that you like. Be indulgent and kind to yourself. This is a good way to break the prejudices you have about your body.
You have first to know who you are. It's not a question of status or knowledge. You have to look at your inner self and image, understand your body, the parts to highlight and find what works with your complexion, your hair color. Or hire an Image Expert to find about your positive angles and best-suited colors.
Even if appearances can be deceptive, we judge others more or less consciously through their outfit, their way of moving, etc.
You can also figure out the best styles for your image and personality by researching about the celebrities or movie stars you resonate with. You can periodically check their best outfits for inspiration in magazines or channels or even movies.
Some personalities have given their name to a style.
We are talking about Dita Von Teese, Ines de la Fressange, Kate Moss, Carolina Herrera, Victoria Beckham... In the same way, we evoke the "signature" mode of a person: Coco Chanel’s tweed jacket, Yves Saint Laurent’s smoking suit, Jean-Paul Gaultier's sailor sweater, Karl Lagerfeld's high collar and so on.
Ultimately, to be different from the others, everyone has to find his/her own style signature.
